Cancellation & Refund Policy

1. Appointment Cancellations

We understand that plans change. To cancel or reschedule your appointment without penalty, please provide at least 2 hours' notice before your scheduled appointment time by calling, texting, or emailing us directly. Cancellations made with less than 2 hours' notice may result in a cancellation fee equal to the session fee paid or quoted, at our discretion. We will always do our best to accommodate urgent circumstances — if you have a genuine emergency, please contact us and we will work with you.

2. No-Show Policy

If a client does not appear for a scheduled appointment and does not contact us to cancel or reschedule, the appointment is considered a no-show. No-shows forfeit any prepaid session fees. A new booking and payment will be required to reschedule.

 

3. Remote Online Notarization (RON) Sessions

RON session fees are collected at the time of booking or at the start of the session. If you cancel a RON session with less than 2 hours' notice, or if your session cannot be completed due to technical issues on your end (device failure, connection loss, missing ID, or incomplete documents), the session fee may be forfeited or a partial fee may apply, depending on the circumstances. If technical issues occur on our end or due to platform failure, your session fee will be refunded in full or rescheduled at no charge.

 

4. Mobile Notary Appointment

Travel fees are agreed upon and disclosed before every mobile appointment per Oregon law (ORS 194.400). If a mobile appointment is cancelled after we have already departed for your location, the travel fee is non-refundable. Notarial act fees are only charged for services actually performed.

 

5. Apostille Services

Once documents have been submitted to the Oregon Secretary of State's office on your behalf, the Oregon state processing fee of $10 per document is non-refundable regardless of cancellation. JNL Notary Services service fees are refundable only if cancellation is requested before document submission. After submission, service fees are non-refundable.

 

6. Refund Process

Approved refunds will be processed using the same payment method used at the time of service, within 3–5 business days of approval. Refund requests must be submitted within 30 days of the service date by contacting us at contact@jnlnotary.com or 503-519-3171.

 

7. Document Retention

After Service Completed notarized documents are delivered to the client at the time of service (in-person) or via secure digital delivery (RON). JNL Notary Services retains session recordings and journal entries as required by Oregon law (minimum 10 years for RON recordings). We are not responsible for documents lost, damaged, or mishandled after delivery to the client.

 

8. Right to Refuse Service

JNL Notary Services reserves the right to refuse or terminate a notarial appointment at any time if the signer cannot be properly identified, appears to be acting under duress or without full understanding of the document, presents incomplete or potentially fraudulent documents, or if the requested act would violate Oregon law or professional standards. In such cases, a partial fee reflecting the time and preparation involved may apply.
